Men’s Soccer Beats Concordia 2-1

HONOLULU – Winning is contagious and the Chaminade University men's soccer team is witnessing it first-hand.

The Silverswords scored twice in the second half including the game-winner from Guilherme Aires in the 85th minute to give them a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Concordia Thursday at Saint Louis Field.

The win put them at 5-4 overall, the first time in program history that the 'Swords have been over .500 this late in the season. It also vaulted them past the Eagles into second place in the Pacific West Conference standings at 5-2.

After falling behind on CUI goal in the first half, Micah Mokulehua got Chaminade on the board after receiving a crossing pass from Yoshinori Tamukai in the 56th minute to square the contest.

Tamukai, a former Kalani High Falcon, then dribbled down the left sideline in the 85th minute, made a centering pass to Nick Kraus who in turn tapped it to Aires who punched it in from the right angle for the winner, his first of the season. Tamukai and Kraus both received assists.

Bernd Buescherhoff got the win to improve to 5-4 while Jordan Brinkley took the loss for Concordia which fell to 5-4-2 overall and 4-2 in the PacWest.

The Silverswords are next in action, taking on conference-leading Dixie State Saturday at Saint Louis Field. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m.
