HONOLULU – The Chaminade University men's soccer team was defeated Saturday by Dixie State, 4-1, at Saint Louis Field.
The Pacific West Conference-leading Trailblazers scored twice in each half to remain unbeaten in the conference at 8-0, 10-3 overall as they won their 10
th straight.
The Silverswords' lone goal came 75
th minute. Just seconds after Dixie State's fourth goal,
Joshua Wong received the game-resuming tap then fired a through ball to
Guilherme Aires who had snuck past the defense. Aires then punched it past a charging DSU goalkeeper Eddie Ortiz and into the net for his second goal in as many contests. Wong got his first assist of the season.
Of the 'Swords six shots, five were on goal.
Jaewon Huh,
Micah Mokulehua and
Curtis Coburn each had a SOG.
Bernd Buescherhoff suffered the loss while starter Zach Nielson got the win as Chaminade's three-game winning streak came to an end.
The Silverswords return to action next Saturday when they visit in-town rival Hawai'i Pacific at Atherton Field in Kaneohe. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m.
