KEA'AU, Hawai'i – The second time proved to be the charm.
The Chaminade University women's soccer team avenged an earlier non-conference defeat at Hawai'i Hilo with a 1-0 decision at the Kamehameha-Hawai'i School's Paiea Stadium Thursday.
Caitlin Tatemichi notched her third goal of the season coming in the 22
nd minute to give the Silverswords the win. The Vulcans defeated the 'Swords by the same score nearly three weeks ago on the Big Island.
Kelli Fryxell got her second assist of the season, finding Tatemichi at the top of the box for the game-winner.
Brandee Lane made four stops to earn the win. UH Hilo keeper Jenna Huford also made four saves in taking the loss.
The 'Swords improved to 2-6 overall and 2-3 in the Pacific West Conference while the Vulcans fell to 2-3-3 and 0-2-3.
Chaminade returns to the pitch Monday when it hosts California Baptist at Saint Louis Field at 3:30 p.m.
