Silverswords Sweep Past ART U

HONOLULU – The Chaminade University women's volleyball team got back on the winning track with a convincing 25-20, 25-18, 25-13 win over Academy of Art Friday at McCabe Gym.
 
The Silverswords hit .250 – including a resounding .417 in the third set – and amassed 43 team kills while holding the Urban Knights to a .071 percentage and 21 kills on the evening. The win snapped their four-match slide to improve them to 8-8 overall and 2-5 in the Pacific West Conference.
 
Kim Spring led a balanced 'Swords attack with 10 kills. Emma Tecklenburg and Kira Long had nine, followed by Cassie Rushlow's six and Daisia LaBrie's five. Spring also had eight digs and two service aces.
 
LaBrie also accounted for six total blocks including four assisted while Tecklenburg had three blocks. Rushlow contributed with two which gave her 185 career roofs, moving her into a tie for fifth all-time with Vanja Radanovic (2006-08).
 
Natashya Enos had 17 assists while Hannah Baker added 12. Waihilo Chartrand had six digs for Chaminade.
 
ART U (4-11, 2-4 PacWest) was led by Melissa Brun's six kills.
 
Chaminade, which never trailed in any of the three sets, controlled nearly every phase of the match including assists (40-19), aces (10-5), total blocks (7-6) and digs (42-33). They also out-pointed the Urban Knights 60-32.
 
The Silverswords will travel to the Big Island and face Hawai'i Hilo on Monday at 7 p.m.
