’Swords Outlast Dominican in Double OT

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – The Chaminade University women's soccer team endured 108 minutes of scoreless football then took advantage of a late foul to down Dominican University of California, 1-0, in double overtime at Kennelly Field.

Caitlin Tatemichi was taken down in front of the Dominican goal in the 109th minute then converted the ensuing penalty kick to give the Silverswords the heart-stopping victory.

The win proved to be record-setting for the 'Swords as they set single-season marks for both overall and conference victories by improving to 4-10-1 overall and 4-7-1 in the Pacific West Conference. DUC fell to 7-6-4 and 6-4-2.

Tatemichi's fifth goal of the year tied Twyla Hamasaki for second-most in a single season, one shy of the program record set by Jamie Lindstrom in 2008.

The overtime win was also the first for the 'Swords since Sept. 2008.

Tatemichi took four total shots, three on goal while Lauren Uehara had one SOG. Cierra Toledo-Muragin also attempted a shot for Chaminade.

Brandee Lane made eight stops for the Silverswords in picking up the win. Dominican's Alyssa Ramos had three saves in taking the loss.

The 'Swords conclude the season Saturday at Notre Dame de Namur.
