HONOLULU – Just 24 hours after a disappointing finish in Laie, the Chaminade University women's volleyball team did not disappoint the home crowd in the home finale Saturday at McCabe Gym.
The Silverswords got 14 kills from freshman
Emma Tecklenburg as they defeated Hawai'i Hilo on Senior Night, 28-26, 25-23, 25-14, to improve to 14-11 overall and 8-8 in the Pacific West Conference.
Playing in her final home match,
Kim Spring put down nine kills while adding 14 digs and a block. The senior increased her career kill total to 1,072 and needs only three to move into fourth in the career list.

Cassie Rushlow added seven kills on the evening to give the No. 8 all-time attacker 816 career kills. Also being celebrated on Senior Night was libero
Waihilo Chartrand who had 13 digs while
Ku`ulei Lynch had two kills and two blocks in her final McCabe Gym appearance. And Chaminade's fifth senior,
Kasse-Ann Kiriu-Dela Cruz, had eight digs on the night.

Daisia LaBrie put down seven spikes while
Kira Long had four.
The Vulcans (9-12, 7-9 PacWest) were led by Marley Strand-Nicolaisen's match-high 19 kills.
Natashya Enos had a match-high 22 assists and eight digs while
Skyler Curry tallied her second consecutive double-double with 14 assists and 10 digs.
Although UH Hilo won the blocking category, 8.5-4.0, Chaminade held decisive advantages the rest of the way. The 'Swords had 44 kills to the Vulcans' 33 and out-hit them .224-.129. They also led in assists (43-29), digs (62-47) and aces (4-2).
The 'Swords will finish the season on the road. They open a three-match swing in Northern California Friday at Fresno Pacific.
