Women’s Soccer Falls at BYU-Hawai‘i

LAIE, O'ahu, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision Tuesday to BYU-Hawai'i in a non-conference game at BYUH Soccer Field.
 
The Seasiders (1-2-1) scored twice in the second half to deny the Silverswords who are still seeking their first-ever victory against their rivals from the North Shore.
 
Sophomore Caitlin Tatemichi scored her first career goal in defeat for Chaminade which fell to 0-2 on the year.
 
Tatemichi's score came in the 18th minute off a pass from Kelli Fryxell who recorded her first career assist.
 
Chaminade held a 1-0 lead at the break but the Seasiders rallied. Mackenzie Bean knotted the game with a goal in the 54th minute, then 90 seconds later, the 'Swords were called for a foul in the box. Brena Jarvis Love's subsequent penalty kick gave BYUH the 2-1 advantage.
 
The Silverswords could not get off a shot down the stretch as the Seasiders held on for the win.
 
BYUH took 12 shots to Chaminade's four. Seasiders keeper Camille Jones made two saves to earn the win to improve to 1-1-1. 'Swords net minder Brandee Lane made five saves in taking the loss to fall to 0-2.

The Silverswords resume action Saturday when they face Hawai'i Hilo at the Kamehameha-Hawai'i campus on the Big Island.
