KEA'AU, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University women's soccer team was back out on the road Saturday in another non-conference match-up against a Pacific West Conference foe.
However, the Silverswords could not counter a Hawai'i Hilo goal midway through the first half, en-route to a 1-0 loss against the Vulcans at the Kamehameha-Hawai'i School Field, their second straight one-goal defeat.
Madison Gates scored the game's only goal 27 minutes into the contest.
Chaminade fell to 0-3 on the season while UH Hilo improved to 2-1.
The 'Swords managed to get three early shots on goal by
Caitlin Tatemichi and
Jana Kakugawa but were denied each time.
The 'Swords had two chances at the net in the waning minutes but
Kelli Fryxell's shot with 90 seconds left was wide then Tatemichi's try with just 30 seconds sailed over the goal.
Jenna Hufford made five saves in securing the win for the Vulcans.
Brandee Lane had four stops in absorbing the loss.
The Silverswords open PacWest action Thursday when they travel to Fresno Pacific.
