AZUSA, Calif. – The Chaminade University women's volleyball team wrapped up their difficult four-match Southern California road swing with a 25-16, 15-25, 25-22, 25-17 loss to No. 25 Azusa Pacific Thursday at the Felix Event Center.
Emma Tecklenburg (Plano, Texas/Plano Senior) led the Silverswords with a match-high 15 kills while
Brooke Bell (Escondido, Calif./North Idaho College) had 11 and a season-best .526 hitting percentage, committing just one error on 19 swings.
Tecklenburg also added 15 digs and a service ace while Bell accounted for five total blocks, four assisted.
The loss dropped Chaminade to 9-9 overall and 4-6 in the Pacific West Conference.
The Cougars (15-2, 8-1 PacWest) were led by Madison Ogas' 14 kills.
After a slow start in the first set in which they hit only .048, the 'Swords bounced back with a vengeance in the second, hitting .533 with just one attack error. But they couldn't sustain their momentum as APU hit .239 in the final two sets.
Skyler Curry (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) got the start with 16 assists while
Danielle Wiley (Peoria, Ariz./Centennial) had 22 along with eight digs.
Claire Zanon (Beaverton, Ore./Jesuit) finished with 13 digs, five kills and two aces while
Nina Torio (Mililani, Hawai'i/Mililani) made 11 digs.
The Silverswords return home to McCabe Gym on Friday, Oct. 20, where they'll be involved their annual intercity rivalry with Hawai'i Pacific University.
