LA MIRADA, Calif. – The Chaminade University women's soccer team ended their grueling 11-day, four-match Southern California road swing with a 2-0 loss to Pacific West Conference newcomer Biola Saturday at Al Barbour Field
Two first-half goals by the Eagles' Colie Martin and Margaret Guadarrama were all they needed for the victory in the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
The Silverswords fell to 3-8 overall and 2-6 in the PacWest while Biola improved to 8-2-1 and 4-2-1.
Caitlin Tatemichi (Honolulu/Roosevelt) attempted four of the five Chaminade shots, two being on-goal while
Breanna-Leigh Bactista (Mililani, Hawai'i/Mililani) took the 'Swords other shot which was also on-goal.
Brandee Lane (Kaneohe, Hawai'i/Castle) stopped six Eagles attempts for the 'Swords. Eagles keeper Christina Rodriguez earned the win for Biola.
Despite their first-half struggles, the 'Swords defense again showed no quit, keeping the opposition without a goal in the final 45 minutes for the third straight match. Chaminade's second-half defense allowed just one goal during their four-match road swing against four of the PacWest's top teams.
The 'Swords return to their home pitch Thursday against Notre Dame de Namur, the first of their final four home matches of the season at Saint Louis Field.
