SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – The Chaminade University women's soccer team opened the first mainland trip of the season Friday with a 1-0 loss to Dominican University of California at Kennelly Field.
Alexis Luna scored the game's only goal coming 10 minutes in.
The Silverswords fell to 1-4-1 overall and 0-2-1 in the Pacific West Conference. The Penguins improved to 4-4-1 and 2-1 in the conference.
After surrendering the early goal, the 'Swords' defense went into lock-down mode, keeping DUC out of the net for the duration of the match.
Chaminade had several chances including an opportunity on a near breakaway late in the game but a shot went just wide of the goal.
'Swords goalkeeper
Brandee Lane (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Castle) made five saves while her counterpart, Alyssa Ramos, made three.
Of Chaminade's nine shots, five were on-goal with
Randi Fontes (Wahiawa, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Hawai'i-Manoa/Pearl City),
Breanna-Leigh Bactista (Mililani, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Mililani),
Asya Asato-Kahele (Honolulu/Roosevelt),
Caitlin Tatemichi (Honolulu/Roosevelt) and
