Men’s Soccer Trips Concordia, 1-0

IRVINE, Calif. – The Chaminade University men's soccer team opened up their important Southern California road trip with a 1-0 victory Saturday over Concordia Irvine at Eagles Soccer Field.

Freshman Brison Kim (Honolulu/Kalani) accounted for the game's only score off an assist from Kelton Cheney (State College, Pa./Penn State/State College HS) in the 66th minute.

The win improved the Silverswords to 6-3 on the season which equaled the program's record for single-season victories set in 2014 and again in '18. They are also 4-1 in the Pacific West Conference, trailing Point Loma, their next opponent, by one point in the standings and three behind conference-leading and No. 1-ranked Azusa Pacific.

Concordia fell to 5-6 overall and 3-2 in the conference.

Michael Stafford (Honolulu/Iowa Western CC/Kalani HS) made five saves for the 'Swords to earn his third shutout this season.

Following Kim's goal, Chaminade survived five CUI shots including the Eagles' final shot with less than a minute left which Stafford saved which prevented the tying score.

The 'Swords also survived playing a man down after they were assessed a red card in the 83rd minute.

Chaminade attempted seven shots to Concordia's 16. The Eagles also attempted 12 corner kicks to CUH's two.

The Silverswords and Point Loma (8-4-1, 4-1-1 PacWest) meet on Monday in San Diego with second place in the conference on the line.
