MONMOUTH, Ore. – For the first time in seven years, the Chaminade University women's cross country team has a representative in the NCAA West Regional.
Freshman
Alena Albertson (Austin, Texas/Cedar Park) will be participating as an individual at the 6-kilometer Ash Creek Preserve course on the campus of host Western Oregon University. She is the first Silverswords women's runner to qualify for the regional since Emily Oschner in 2012 and just the third 'Sword – men or women – this decade to do so.
Albertson's last race was at the 6-k Pacific West Conference Championships in Fullerton, Calif., where she clocked a finishing time of 23:02.24 to place 25th overall.
A high finish in the West Regional would put Albertson in consideration for an at-large invite for the NCAA Division II Championships in Sacramento, Calif., on Nov. 23.
