HONOLULU – The Chaminade University women's tennis team on Wednesday faced off against California Lutheran in the first of two matches between the two programs at Ala Moana Tennis Courts.
 
The Silverswords, however, came up on the short end of a 7-0 decision, dropping them to 3-7 on the year. The Regals improved to 11-2.
 
Chaminade's No. 3 doubles team of 
Caitlin Tatemichi (Honolulu/Roosevelt) and 
Angelica Almilla (Laguna, Phillipines/Farrington) battled valiantly before dropping a 6-3 decision. Cal Lutheran won the Nos. 1 and 2 doubles matches to win the point.
 
In singles, 
Catrina Liner (Corvallis, Ore./Corvallis) had a competitive match in No. 1 singles against Lilijana Peters-Semak before falling 6-3, 6-2. 
Cai Yan Fang (Zhongshan, China) also held her own in No. 4 singles with a 6-2, 6-3 loss to Nicole Alvarez.
 
Playing at No. 5 singles for the first time this season, Tatemichi played well before dropping a 6-1, 6-2 decision to Brennan Foreman.
 
The Silverswords and Regals face each other again on Friday at Ala Moana Tennis Courts.
