HONOLULU – The Chaminade University women's tennis team wrapped up their second of two matches Friday against California Lutheran at Ala Moana Tennis Courts.
Playing under Division III scoring rules, the Silverswords dropped the match by a 9-0 count.
Chaminade started the afternoon by falling in all three doubles matches although the No. 3 team of
Caitlin Tatemichi (Honolulu/Roosevelt) and
Kirstin Wong (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Aliso Niguel) came the closest to victory with an 8-6 loss. The 'Swords' No. 1 doubles team of
Catrina Liner (Corvallis, Ore./Corvallis) and
Cai Yan Fang (Zhongshan, China) also played well against the Royals' top duo tandem of Christie Kurdys and Lilijana Peters-Semak before falling, 8-5.
Despite losing all six singles matches, the 'Swords did not have one bagel. Fang nearly forced a third set from Kurdys in the No. 3 spot before falling, 6-3, 7-5.
Chaminade fell to 3-8 while Cal Lutheran is 12-2.
The Silverswords return to action next Friday when they host Hawai'i Hilo at Ala Moana Tennis Courts at 12 p.m.
