Volleyball Rolls Past Notre Dame de Namur

BELMONT, Calif. – Thc Chaminade University women's volleyball team opened their first Pacific West Conference mainland road trip of the season Saturday with a convincing 25-15, 25-14, 25-16 win over Notre Dame de Namur at the Walter Gleason Gymnasium.
 
Freshman outside hitter Annah Rivera (Granada Hills, Calif./Bishop Alemany) put down a team-high 10 kills with 10 digs for her first career double-double for the Silverswords who improved to 9-2 overall and 3-0 in the PacWest.
 
Emma Tecklenburg (Plano, Texas/Plano Senior) followed with nine kills followed by Alana Handy (Burlington, Wash./Bethune-Cookman Univ./Burlington-Edison HS) and Rachel Reedy (Temple City, Calif./Arcadia) with eight each. Lataisia Saulala (Morgan Hill, Calif./Oakwood) added six kills. Reedy and Saulala added two blocks.
 
Not only did the Silverswords win their 10th straight road match, they captured their 11th consecutive victory in the conference's Northern California region, dating back to Nov. 2016.
 
The 'Swords hit .305 and held the Argonauts to just .053. They also trailed just twice in the entire match, both times in the third set at 1-0 and 2-1.
 
The Argos (2-9, 1-3 PacWest) were led by Samantha Shaffer's six kills.
 
Chaminade jumped out to Set 1 leads of 7-1 and 13-4 to set the tone for the rest of the afternoon. The 'Swords used a 7-0 run midway through the second set to turn a 17-13 lead into a runaway win. After the Argos took their brief leads early in the third, Chaminade used 6-0 and 13-6 surges to cruise in the final set.
 
Freshman Alecza Abary (Fontana, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga) had a season-high 16 assists for the 'Swords who played all three setters in the match. Natashya Enos (Kahalu'u, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Saint Francis) and Danielle Wiley (Peoria, Ariz./Centennial) contributed with 12 each. Enos also had a three service aces, giving her 99 in her career.
 
Leka Kiner-Falefa (Honolulu/UNLV/Mid-Pacific Institute) led the 'Swords with 12 digs while Tecklenburg and Claire Zanon (Beaverton, Ore./Jesuit) had seven.
 
Chaminade dominated the stat sheet by doubling up NDNU in kills (42-21) and assists (42-21). The 'Swords also racked up 52 digs to the Argos' 37 and had nine aces to their three.
 
The Silverswords are in San Rafael on Monday to take on Dominican.
