Roemer Ties Points Record against Biola

HONOLULU – The Chaminade University men's soccer team grabbed an early lead but Biola stormed back in the second half to defeat the Silverswords, 3-1, Saturday at Saint Louis Field.

In defeat, however, Colin Roemer (Cologne, Germany/Barton CC/Wirtschaftsgymnasium Westerburg HS) scored his first goal of the season, giving him 22 career points and tying him with Noah Mokulehua for the most in program history.

Roemer's eighth career goal also tied him for second in program history with Curtis Coburn and Nicolas Ferro. He needs one more to tie the team record co-held by Mokulehua and Sam Galloway.

Biola was whistled for a foul in the box in the 18th minute, setting up a penalty kick chance for Roemer. The senior hit the upper shelf for the game's first score. Roemer's conversion was the third of his career, which also tied him with Mokulehua, Galloway and Reece Hambly for first all-time.

Chaminade's lead stood until the 57th minute when Theo Le Calve tied it when he found a gap on the left side of the box. The Eagles, riding the momentum, scored again just over a minute later with a goal from Adam Jones. Biola then got an insurance score when Pontius Gitselov headed in a corner kick from Gabriel Berthoud in the 73rd minute.

Roemer and Brison Kim (Honolulu/Kalani) each took a team-high four shots for Chaminade while Kekoa Kuloloia (Mililani, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Mililani) attempted three.

Lyric De Leon (Kapolei, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Grand Canyon University/Kapolei HS) made his 53rd career start. He needs one more to tie the program record for starts with four others.

Brandon Yasue (Honolulu/Kaiser) made six saves for Chaminade which fell to 2-6 on the year and 0-4 in the Pacific West Conference.

Luis Rodriguez had two stops for the Eagles (7-4, 3-1 PacWest).

The Silverswords will play their final home game on Monday, Oct. 25 when they host Point Loma at Saint Louis Field for Senior Day.
