KAHUKU, O'ahu, Hawai'i – After a three-week layoff, the Chaminade University men's and women's cross country teams resumed action Saturday at the Hawai'i Pacific Invitational at the Kahuku Golf Course.
The Silverswords ladies finished third in the team scoring with 74 points.
Eri Leong (Las Vegas/SECTA) was Chaminade's top finisher, completing the women's 6-kilometer course in 28 minutes, 42.3 seconds.
Caitlin Bocobo (Mililani, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Sacred Hearts), on loan from the 'Swords women's soccer team, made a memorable cross country debut, finishing second on the squad in 29:27.5.
Ashley Yoshikawa (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) came in third among Chaminade runners at 30:36.6.
Kianna Swingle (Oro Valley, Ariz./Ironwood Ridge) and
Taylor Aguano (Gilbert, Ariz./Chandler) recorded times of 34:31.4 and 35:19.7, respectively, while
Tehani Smith (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Castle), who like Bocobo is on loan from the soccer team, finished at 37:23.3 in her running debut.
Host HPU won the team title with 21 points while Hawai'i Hilo totaled 41. The Sharks' Robyn Kaltenbrunn took the individual title at 25:01.0.
On the men's side, Chaminade scored 32 points while HPU won the men's title with 23.
Individually,
Owen Daugherty (Cedar Park, Texas/Cedar Park) finished the men's 8-k third overall at 29:32.4.
Elijah Bernardo-Flores (Waipahu, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Kapalama) set personal bests, recording his highest ever placement with a fifth overall finish, tallying an 8-k career-low time of 30:33.8.
Peter Jan Ramos (Waipahu, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Waipahu) clocked a 34:09.6, followed by
Josiah Rodrigues (Honoka'a, Hawai'i/Honoka'a) finished at 34:22.1, an 8-k career low.
Conor McMahon (Pacifica, Calif./Archbishop Riordan) rounded out the 'Swords with a time of 34:42.3.
The Silverswords host their own Chaminade Invitational next Saturday at Kapiolani Park. Fans are prohibited from attending both races.
