KANEOHE, O'ahu, Hawai'i – Members of the Chaminade University women's and men's cross country team wrapped up their 2021 spring seasons Saturday at the PacWest Hawai'i Invitational on the Hawai'i Pacific University-Hawai'i Loa campus.
On the women's side, the Silverswords' two seniors,
Olivia Mariucci (Templeton, Calif./Templeton) and
Riley Hallman (Renner, S.D./Tri-Valley) participated in what was likely the final races of their four-year careers.
Mariucci finished the 5-kilometer course ninth overall, recording a finishing time of 23 minutes, 16.7 seconds. Hallman clocked at 26:17.
Robyn Kaltenbrunn of HPU won the event in 20:55.4
Meanwhile the men's lone senior participant,
Elijah Bernardo-Flores (Waipahu, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Kapalama), ended the men's 5-k in 19:47.6. Freshman
Owen Daugherty (Cedar Park, Texas/Cedar Park) was the highest placing 'Sword, coming in third overall at 17:52.4, less than two minutes behind the field's top finisher, HPU's Jona Bodirsky. Chaminade's
Conor McMahon (Pacifica, Calif./Archbishop Rioardan) came in at 20:30.6.
Thanks to the NCAA's ruling to restore one more year of eligibility, all three Chaminade seniors have the option to return for a fifth year this coming fall.
