Men’s Soccer Bested at Biola

LA MIRADA, Calif. – The Chaminade University men's soccer team played its second game of its Southern California road trip Monday, suffering a 6-0 defeat to Biola at Al Barbour Field.

The Eagles scored three goals in the first 13 minutes of the game which helped them take over the Pacific West Conference's top spot with 18 points (6-3-6, 5-0-3 PacWest).

The Silverswords fell to 2-7-2 and 2-4-2 in the conference.

Biola scored its opening goal just 74 seconds into the game then added two more less than three minutes apart starting in the 10th minute. One of the scores was by Kristian Colaci, the conference's leading goal-scorer, who tacked on his 13th, the only player in the conference who has double-digit goals this season.

The Eagles quick-strike offense added two goals in the final three minutes of action.

Owen Caba (West Linn, Ore./West Linn) and Ian Inigo (Houston/Bridgeland) each took two of the 'Swords' six shots on the afternoon. David Kurihara (Mililani, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Hanalani) and Remo Merlo (Reno, Nev./Remo) accounted for Chaminade's other two shots.

Tino Colello (Normandy Park, Wash./Highline College/Mt. Ranier HS), along with Caba and Inigo, played all 90 minutes of the match.

Brandon Yasue (Honolulu/Kaiser) had a season-high 10 saves while Gabriel Schroeder (Reno, Nev./Galena) made his second career appearance in front the net, playing the final nine minutes.

Chaminade continues its road trip Thursday at Point Loma. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Hawai'i time.
