Women’s Basketball Drops Final Game of Road Trip

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – The Chaminade University women's basketball team on Wednesday concluded their first mainland trip of the season with an 83-35 loss to Dominican University of California at the Conlon Center.

Dezaray Carter (Honolulu/Sacred Hearts Academy) led the Silverswords with 11 points while Emma Morris (Tuscon, Ariz./Tanque Verde) added six.

The loss dropped Chaminade to 1-8 overall and 1-4 in the Pacific West Conference.

Juliana Losalio-Watson (Ho'okena, Hawai'i/Konawaena) pulled down a team- and season-high eight rebounds with Paige Relph (Las Vegas/Waianae, Hawai'i) also posted a season-high in boards with six. Dallas Martinez (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Whittier College/Sacred Hearts Academy) was held to just five points but dished out a team-best three assists while hauling in another five rebounds.

Alaiyah San Juan led the Penguins (4-7, 2-2 PacWest) with 15 points.

Despite the point differential, the 'Swords were able to hold their own on the glass with 42 rebounds. They also committed just 10 fouls, a season low, and put Dominican at the free throw line just six times.

Chaminade was not able to recover from a 43-22 halftime deficit as DUC held them without a field goal in the first 12 minutes of the second half. Morris finally got a shot to fall early in the fourth quarter on a baseline jumper.

The 'Swords were 22 percent from the floor and were held without a 3-pointer for the first time this season.

The Penguins shot 46 percent from the field with eight triples, 54 boards and 17 assists.

The Silverswords return home to face Hope International in their final McCabe Gymnasium home game of the calendar year. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
