HONOLULU – The Chaminade University women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision Sunday to 24th-ranked Biola in the Hawai'i Invitational at Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park Tennis Courts.
Facing their first nationally ranked opponent in nearly two years, the Silverswords (0-3) dropped two of their doubles matches to the Eagles (4-1) for the doubles point. However, Chaminade's No. 1 team of
Kayleen Lau (Wailuku, Maui, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Maui) and
Salamasina Robertson (Hau'ula, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kahuku) managed to take a game from Colbeyshae Emery and Mary Brascia, the 13th-ranked doubles team in the nation before it was halted with BU up 5-1.
In singles action, Lau battled Brascia, who is ranked No. 42 nationally in singles before the match ended with Lau trailing 6-3, 2-1.
The 'Swords wrap the Hawai'i Invitational Monday when they face Dominican University of California at Keehi Lagoon Tennis Courts at noon.
