HONOLULU – The Chaminade University women's tennis team wrapped up the season-opening Hawai'i Invitational on Monday with a 7-0 defeat to Dominican University of California at Keehi Lagoon Tennis Courts.
In doubles, freshman
Kylie Ye (Honolulu/Asia Pacific International School) made her second appearance on the Silverswords' No. 1 squad, teaming with
Salamasina Robertson (Hau'ula, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kahuku), although the team dropped their match to Audrey Rafols and Gina Dudley, 6-0.
After dropping the team doubles point to the Penguins (2-3), the Silverswords (0-4) got another competitive effort from
Kayleen Lau (Wailuku, Maui, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Kapalama) and Robertson in their respective singles matches.
Lau fell in the No. 1 spot, 6-1, 6-3, to Rafols while Robertson dropped her No. 2 match to Dudley, 6-0, 6-2.
The 'Swords get a full month off and will face Bucknell on March 14 at the Donald Andrews Diamond Head Tennis Center, their first of three Division I foes they will face this season.
