AIEA, O'ahu, Hawai'i – In their final tune-up before next week's Pacific West Conference Championships, the Chaminade University men's golf team on Tuesday shot a 325 in the 18-hole Hawai'i Challenge held at the par-72, 6,787-yard Pearl Country Club.

The event featured all three of Hawai'i's Division II programs with Hawai'i Pacific University capturing the team event with a 296 while Hawai'i Hilo carded a 311 on the afternoon.

Playing in his final home tournament, senior
Colby Gunderson (Kaneohe, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Castle), posted the Silverswords' low score with a 5-over-par 77, his lowest at Pearl CC since shooting a 75 there a year ago. For Gunderson, who elected to utilize his season-of-competition waiver to gain a year of eligibility back, it was the second straight tournament he had the team's lowest score after shooting a 156 at the Tim Tierney Shootout in Alameda, Calif., last month.

Schuyler Peterson (Huntington Beach, Calif./Mater Dei) followed with an 82 while
Seven Birks (Houston, Texas/IMG Academy) and
Ryan Shields Vega (Fort Myers, Fla./Cypress Lake) were both a shot behind with 83s.

Blake Buonopane (Rowley, Mass./St. John's Prep) rounded out the 'Swords with a 91.

UH Hilo's Andrew Otani captured the individual title, defeating HPU's Ryan Torres by birding the first hole of a playoff. Both completed the 18 holes with even-par 72s.

All three teams will be a part of the three-round, 54-hole PacWest Championships at the Wigwam Course in Litchfield Park, Ariz., with first round action starting Monday.
