Men’s Golf Finishes PGA WORKS Championship in 5th

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Chaminade University men's golf team wrapped up the season Wednesday with a fifth-place finish at the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship (PWCC) at the par-71 The Park course.
 
The Silverswords shot a third- and final-round 302, giving them a 54-hole total of 924, four shots ahead of Livingstone College.
 
Cody Dao (Henderson, Nev./Liberty) fired a final-round even-par 71 to finish with the 'Swords' low score of 15-over 228. The freshman carded four birdies in the final round to move up five spots and finish the tournament 12th overall.
 
Tanner Capik (Los Angeles/Beverly Hills) rebounded from Tuesday's 81 with a 3-over 74 to conclude the PWCC tied for 16th at 229. Riley Born (Las Vegas/Odyssey) also finished with a 229 although his third round 80 dropped him out of the top 10 finishers. However, the freshman managed to eagle the par-4 16th, Chaminade's only eagle of the tournament.
 
A.J. Dahlk (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields) posted his best score of the tournament with a 6-over 77 to give him a 239 while Chance Wilson (Princeville, Kaua'i, Hawai'i/Enlightium Academy) shot an 81 in the final round, giving him an overall score of 244.
 
Western New Mexico won both the PWCC Division II team and medalist awards. The Mustangs ran away from the field with an 890, 14 shots better than runner-up Morehouse College. WNMU's Jacob Alcorta was the D-II medalist with an even-par 213, besting runner-up Denis Asaba of Livingstone by four shots.
 
The other winners of the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championships include Florida A&M (men's Division I) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (women's team). The individual medalists were Sascha Robinson (Florida A&M, Division I men), Thaiz Amezcua (Texas Southern, women), Nashawn Tyson (Florida Atlantic, men's individual) and Alexis Faieta (UNC Wilmington).
