NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Chaminade University men's golf team finished in eighth at the Pacific West Conference Championships at the par-72, 6,818-yard Aliante Golf Course.
With the weather much improved after Tuesday's high winds, the Silverswords shot a final round of 298, giving them a three-round total of 923, 25 shots behind seventh-place finisher Hawai'i Pacific University. Their Round 3 score is the fourth-lowest in a PacWest Championship in program history.
Chance Wilson (Princeville, Kaua'i, Hawai'i/Enlightium Academy) fired an even-par 72 in the third round putting him in a three-way tie for 17th place at 7-over-par 223. Wilson opened the front-nine with a 34 thanks to birdies on holes 3, 5 and 7 but struggled down the stretch with bogeys on 17 and 18.
Riley Born (Las Vegas/Odyssey) posted a 3-over 75 in his third round to finish at 10-over, coming in 24th overall.
The 'Swords' best round of the day was by
Cody Dao (Henderson, Nev./Liberty), who fired a 2-under 72, tied for the second-lowest single round by a CUH golfer in the conference championship.
After opening with bogeys on two of his first three holes, the sophomore, who is from nearby Henderson, played a bogey-free round in the next 13 holes which included four birdies. After bogeying the 17th, Dao finished the tournament strong with a birdie on 18, his fifth of the afternoon.
Tanner Capik (Los Angeles/Beverly Hills) shot a final round 9-over 81 and finished with a 36-hole total of 248.
A.J. Dahlk (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields) finished at 248 after a final round 83.
The University of Hawai'i Hilo repeated as the PacWest champion, their fourth straight conference title, at 7-under 857, a whopping 18-stroke win over runner-up Menlo College.
Also repeating was UH Hilo's Dylan Bercan, who won his second straight PacWest title, at 8-under 208, easily out-pacing runner-up Kyle Koski of Vanguard by five shots.
The Silverswords will find out next week if their season continues with an invitation from the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championships in early May in Florida. The team has participated in the last two championships, winning the national title in 2024.
