WAIMEA, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University men's golf team concluded the three-round, 54-hole Hawai'i Pacific University Sharks Shootout in 13th place, posting an 899 at the Mauna Lani Golf Course.

Playing at the site of next April's Pacific West Conference Championships, the Silverswords, who were 15th after the first two rounds, shot a final-round 291, tied for the second-lowest round in school history, to move up two spots and finish ahead of Saint Martin's, Westminster, Western Washington and future PacWest member William Jessup.

Freshman Jack Yeager (San Clemente, Calif./JSerra Catholic) was the 'Swords' low-scorer of the tournament, carding a three-round total of 6-over-par 222. Yeager finished tied for 34th overall after carding a final-round 1-under 71.

Zachary DuBourdieu (Carlsbad, Calif./Sage Creek), who struggled in Monday's afternoon second round, rebounded by firing a 4-under 68 in the final round, tying him for 46th. His 4-under tied him with Jarin Harada and Jeren Nishimoto for the lowest single round in school history.

Starting his round at the par-3 14th, DuBourdieu got off to a hot start, birding five of his first seven holes, including at holes 1 and 2, both of which he had plus-scores the previous two rounds. He added three more birdies down the stretch, giving him eight in the round.

Ethan Alexander (New Rochelle, N.Y./Fordham Prep) and Ky Stopp (Long Beach, Calif./Woodrow Wilson) both shot 226 in the tournament. Stopp shot 74 in the third round while Alexander posted a 78.

Blake Buonopane (Rowley, Mass./St. John's Prep) rounded out Chaminade's scoring with a 258.

The University of Texas Permian Basin was the team champion at 853, defeating runner-up Colorado Christian University by eight shots.

Francis Bautista of Cal State Dominguez Hills and Colin Huang of Sonoma State were co-individual champions at 207.

The team will remain in Waimea for the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Hawai'i Hilo, the traditional final tournament of the non-championship fall season. The 36-hole tournament will be at the Hapuna Golf Course.
