ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Chaminade University men's golf team opened Monday's first two rounds of Cal State East Bay's Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout with a 601 at the par-72 Corica Park South Course.
The Silversword are in 11th place of the 13-team field, holding an eight-shot lead over Hawai'i Pacific University and 13 over Academy of Art.
The Silverswords shot an opening round 12-over 300 in the morning's first round followed by a 301 in the afternoon's second round.
Zachary DuBourdieu (Carlsbad, Calif./Sage Creek) is Chaminade's 36-hole leader with a 1-over-par 145 which is tied for 38th overall. The freshman fired a 1-over 73 in the opening round then carded an even-par 72 in the second 18 which included an eagle on the par-5 15th hole.
Ethan Alexander (New Rochelle, N.Y./Fordham Prep), who finished last week's Northwest Nazarene Invitational with the 'Swords' lowest score, shot consecutive 75s in both rounds for a 6-over 150.
Matt Monaghan (Port Huron, Mich./Port Huron) shot 76-77 in his two rounds and sits at 153 followed by
Kal O'Brien (Mackinaw City, Mich./Marymount California Univ./Mackinaw City HS) with a 159 following a 76 in the first round and 83 in the second.
Schuyler Peterson (Huntington Beach, Calif./Mater Dei), who struggled to an 87 in the first round, rebounded in the second with a 75, putting his total at 164.
Cal State San Marcos is the 36-hole team leader at 10-under 566, holding a three-shot lead over Simon Fraser.
There is a three-way tie atop the individual leaderboard between CSUSM's Greg Mouser, Holy Names' Luke Dugger and Cal State Dominguez Hills' Andy Yoon who are all at 8-under 136 heading into the final round.
The Pioneer Shootout wraps up with the third and final round on Tuesday with the first tee-offs at 8:30 a.m. local time.
