Men’s Golf Finishes in Tie for 12th at HPU Shootout

WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University men's golf team on Saturday concluded the Southwest Airlines Hawai'i Pacific Sharks Shootout in a tie for 12th with host HPU and Pacific West Conference newcomer Vanguard University.
 
The Silverswords shot a final round 289 at the par-70 Waikoloa Beach Course, giving them a total score of 572.
 
Paced by four birdies and an eagle on the par-5 18th, Ky Stopp (Long Beach, Calif./Woodrow Wilson) fired a final round 2-under-par 68 to finish in a tie for 17th at 2-under-par 138. His overall score is just the third time in program history a Silversword golfer wrapped up a 36-hole run at under-par.
 
A day after shooting under-par in the first round, Jack Yeager (San Clemente, Calif./JSerra Catholic) shot 3-over 73, and had Chaminade's second-lowest score at 1-over 141 in the tie for 29th.
 
A.J. Dahlk (Centerport, N.Y./Harborfields) shot a 4-over in the finale to finish at 5-over 145. The freshman's second round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 15th.
 
Blake Buonopane (Rowley, Mass./St. John's Prep) shot a 74 in the final round and finished at 149 while Ethan Alexander (New Rochelle, N.Y./Fordham Prep) shot a 78 on Saturday for a 36-hole score of 152.
 
The Southwest Airlines HPU Sharks Shootout concludes the fall non-championship segment of their season.
