BILLINGS, Mont. – The Chaminade University men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up their final meet of the season on Saturday at the NCAA West Regional at Amend Park.
The Silversword women, competing in the regional for a second straight season completed a successful 2024 in 26th place with 799 points, finishing ahead of Cal State Los Angles and Hawai'i Pacific University. The 'Swords' men did not compete as a team but did have two runners compete as individuals.
In the ladies 6-kilometer race,
Maria Steinke (Columbus, Ohio/University of Dayton/Bexley HS) completed her brief, two-year Chaminade career as the team's top finisher, placing 112th with a time of 23:29.23 followed by
Nikiji Dayse (Memphis, Tenn./Bartlett) who finished 148th in 24:27.23.
Cassie Chong (Mililani, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Mililani) was Chaminade's third finisher, placing 179th with a time of 26:45.27.
In the final race of her career,
Leila-Jayne Casison (Waipahu, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Waipahu) finished 189th in 28:44.89, followed by
Jordyn Koki (Ewa Beach, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Kapalama) in 29:23.94 and
Emily Cooper (Mount Desert Island, Maine/Mount Desert Island) in 30:35.33.
In the men's 10-k event,
Peter Jan Ramos (Waipahu, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Waipahu) and
Conor McMahon (Pacific, Calif./Archbishop Riordan) both wrapped up five-year careers at the regional. Ramos placed 151st with a time of 37:12.22 and McMahon coming in 156th with a time of 45:36.09.
