HONOLULU – The Chaminade University women's tennis team on Saturday dropped a 7-0 decision to Stanislaus State at the Donald A. Andrews Diamond Head Tennis Center.
The Warriors, who are affiliate members of the Pacific West Conference in women's tennis, took the doubles point after winning the first two matches. No. 1 doubles was played until completion to allow both teams to get their full set in.
In singles competition,
Berylin Lau (Wailuku, Maui, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Maui) had a competitive second set at the top spot, before falling to Alyssa Tay, 6-3.
Likewise with
Kylie Ye (Laie, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Asia Pacific International School), who played a competitive second set before dropping a 6-2 decision to Emma Yu at No. 2 singles.
Kirra Carvalho (Lihue, Kaua'i, Hawai'i/Kaua'i) won a game in her opening set at No. 3 while
Selena Buttery (Brockway, Pa./Brockway) took two games at No. 5.
Chaminade fell to 0-2 on the season while Stanislaus State is 3-0.
The Silverswords return to action on Monday against Dallas Baptist University at the Diamond Head Tennis Center. Doubles action is scheduled for 11 a.m., weather pending.
