HONOLULU – The Chaminade University women's tennis dropped a 7-0 decision to Dallas Baptist University at the Donald A. Andrews Diamond Head Tennis Center on Monday.
The Silverswords dropped the doubles point after the Patriots took the first and third groupings. Doubles No. 2 was played to completion to allow both teams to get work in.
In singles action,
Kylie Ye (Laie, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Asia Pacific International School), at the No. 2 position, faced off against Leonie Schondelmaier, who is the 39th-ranked singles player in Division II and fifth in the South Central Region, according to the ITA rankings. Ye was able to get points but ultimately fell in two sets.
Likewise at the No. 3 spot,
Kirra Carvalho (Lihue, Kaua'i, Hawai'i/Kaua'i) also had a chance to compete against a ranked opponent, Madalyn Smelley, No. 19 in the South Central Region. Like Ye, Carvalho took several points but dropped both sets.
Carine Bleasdell (Kihei, Maui, Hawai'i/Hawai'i Technology Academy) was able to take a game during the second set off Jenna Payne at No. 6 singles.
Chaminade is 0-3 while DBU improved to 4-0.
The Silverswords will be at Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park on Thursday, facing off against the University of Hawai'i Hilo.
