WAIPAHU, O'ahu, Hawai'i – The Chaminade University women's tennis team on Thursday dropped a 6-1 decision to the University of Hawai'i Hilo at the Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park Tennis Complex.
The Vulcans took the doubles point with wins at the Nos. 1 and 2 spots, although the duo of
Kylie Ye (Laie, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Asia Pacific International School) and
Isabella Minaudo (Honolulu/Hawai'i Technology Academy) dropped three games in the top doubles spot.
In No. 4 singles,
Selena Buttery (Brockway, Pa./Brockway) managed to take two games from Lehua Jordan in both sets while at the No. 1 singles spot, Ye took single games in both her sets against McKenna Mountain.
The Silverswords had a default win by
Carine Bleasdell (Kihei, Maui, Hawai'i/Hawai'i Technology Academy) at No. 6 singles when UH Hilo did not have enough players to fill all singles spots.
Chaminade fell to 0-4 while the Vulcans are 1-2.
The Silverswords are next in action on Tuesday, March 4 against Southern New Hampshire at the Donald A. Andrews Diamond Head Tennis Center starting at 11 a.m.
