LIVERMORE, Calif. – The Chaminade University women's tennis team opened their lone mainland trip of the season Tuesday, dropping a 6-1 decision to Academy of Art at The Club at Livermore.
 
In the opening doubles matches, 
Selena Buttery (Brockway, Pa./Brockway) played in the top duo position for the first time in her career, teaming with 
Kylie Ye (Laie, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Asia Pacific International School). 
Kirra Carvalho (Lihue, Kaua'i, Hawai'i/Kaua'i) and 
Berylin Lau (Wailuku, Maui, Hawai'i/Kamehameha-Maui), at doubles No. 2, took a game in their match against Georgiana Parr and Stefani Georgieva.
 
In singles action, Lau managed to take four total games against Georgieva in a 6-2, 6-2 loss at the No. 4 spot. 
Carine Bleasdell (Kihei, Maui, Hawai'i/Hawai'i Technology Academy) got a default win at the sixth position when the Urban Knights did not have enough players to fill the spot.
 
The Silverswords will face Dominican University of California at the Castellucci Family Tennis Center on Tuesday. The start time of noon Pacific Daylight Time (9 a.m. Hawai'i time) may be moved up with impending rain forecast for later in the afternoon.
