HONOLULU – The Chaminade University women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to Portland State University on Saturday at the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Tennis Courts.
Facing a Division I opponent for the first time since 2023 – which was also Portland State – the Silverswords, in their second match of the day after facing the University of Hawai'i Hilo earlier in the morning, dropped both doubles matches, giving the Vikings the doubles point.
Kylie Ye (Laie, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Asia Pacific International School), playing her final match in a Chaminade uniform, took a game in each set in Court 1 from Nika Beukers.
Winning single games in their respectively matches were
Kirra Carvalho (Lihue, Kaua'i, Hawai'i/Kaua'i) at No. 2,
Isabella Minaudo (Honolulu/Hawai'i Technology Academy) at No. 3 and
Selena Buttery (Brockway, Pa./Brockway) at No. 4.
Following the match, Ye was celebrated as the 'Swords' lone senior.
The match against PSU was a last second add-on. The University of Hawai'i Hilo were the Vikings' original opponent but due to scheduling conflicts, the Vulcans were not able compete with the 'Swords filling in as a replacement.
Chaminade will end its season on Wednesday at UH Hilo at the Vulcan Tennis Courts.
