HILO, Hawai'i – For the second straight match to start the 2025 season, the Chaminade University women's soccer team did not get on the board.
However, they did not allow a goal either as they battled 25th-ranked Westminster of Utah in a nin-nil draw at the Vulcan Soccer Field at the University of Hawai'i Hilo campus.
It was the second scoreless tie for the 'Swords after a 0-0 draw against Chico State on Sunday, also at UH Hilo.
Chaminade (0-0-2) outshot the nationally-ranked Griffins (2-0-1), 12-to-6, with
Mariana Carpenter (Castle Rock, Colo./University of North Dakota/Castle View HS) leading the Silverswords with three total shots.
Kierra Reid (St. George, Utah/Dixie) and
Bryana Yoshida (Makakilo, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Fresno Pacific University/Kapolei HS) each took two shots at the Westminster net.
For the second straight match, goalkeeper
Maddie Merrick (Parker, Colo./Creighton University/Legend HS) tallied a clean sheet with a pair of saves for the Silverswords, who also had four shots on-goal to the Griffins' two.
Westminster's Marin Mackenzie made three saves.
The Silverswords will make their O'ahu debut on Tuesday with a non-conference tilt against crosstown rival Hawai'i Pacific University at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium in Waipahu. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
