HONOLULU – The Chaminade University women's basketball team on Saturday fell in their finale of their January five-game homestand with a 93-44 defeat to Westmont College at McCabe Gymnasium.
Alyssa Schuetze (Temecula, Calif./Great Oak) had nine points, her fourth straight game as the Silverswords' top scorer.
Selena Buttery (Brockway, Pa./Brockway) and
Maddy Weaver (Puyallup, Wash./Puyallup) tacked on eight each. Buttery also pulled down a team-high four rebounds.
Julien Parado (Ewa Beach, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Campbell) added seven points and dished out four assists for the 'Swords (0-14, 0-10 Pacific West Conference).
Molly Garnand poured in 30 points on 15-of-18 shooting for the Warriors (13-5, 9-3 PacWest). She also grabbed 15 rebounds.
Weaver's turnaround jumper on Chaminade's first possession gave the home team its only lead. Westmont proceeded to score the next 19.
The 'Swords had a much balanced fourth quarter, hitting five shots, including all three of their 3-pointers in the game coming from Parado, Buttery and
Holly Dolny (Melbourne, Australia/Loyola University Chicago/Heathdale Christian College).
Chaminade shot 35 percent from the floor and made 13-of-17 free throws with 18 rebounds and eight assists.
Westmont was at a 52 percent clip with nine triples, was 6-of-8 at the charity stripe with 42 boards and 22 assists.
The Silverswords head out to Southern California for a three-game road trip which begins Thursday at Point Loma. Tipoff is set for 3:30 p.m. Hawai'i time.
