Baseball Uses Arms Aplenty Against Division I Hawai‘i

HONOLULU – The Chaminade University baseball team stepped out of Pacific West Conference action for the final time in 2026, facing next door neighbor University of Hawai'i at Les Murakami Stadium.

In occasionally drizzly weather (aka Manoa Mist), the Silverswords were handed a 15-0 defeat to the Rainbow Warriors, which ended in the middle of the seventh inning due to the 10-run-rule.

The 'Swords were held to two hits in the evening, the fourth all-time meeting between the two programs whose campuses are less than a mile apart.

The Silverswords fell to 4-18 on the season while the Division I Rainbow Warriors improved to 9-7.

With both teams going with bullpen games, CUH starter Neville Till (Maple Valley, Wash./Tahoma) was tagged with the loss with the 'Swords using seven arms, the last being Jacob Petersen (Sammamish, Wash./Everett CC/Skyline HS), who went 1 1/3 and allowing one hit with two strikeouts.

Dylan Waite, UH's second of five hurlers, picked up the win.

Chaminade went the first five innings without a hit until Ryden Toyama (Mililani, O'ahu, Hawai'i/Hawai'i Baptist Academy) ended Hawai'i's combined no-hit bid with an infield single to lead off the sixth. Evon Williams (San Ramon, Calif./Dougherty Valley) followed suit with another infield single. Both runners eventually got into scoring position before being stranded.

The 'Swords also had an opportunity to plate runs earlier. In the second inning, loading the bases on a leadoff walk from Bode Poler (Montesano, Wash./Gonzaga University/Montesano HS), an error that allowed Cameron Breeze (Temecula, Calif./San Diego City College/Paloma Valley HS) to reach and Trysten Mooney (Helena, Mont./Wenatchee Valley College/Capital HS) who was plunked. However, a flyout/throw-out double play ended the inning.

The Silverswords will return to PacWest action on Friday, the start of a four-game series against Menlo College at Les Murakami Stadium. The start of the series is dependent on the weather with heavy rain, thunderstorms and potential damaging high winds reaching the state starting Wednesday and going into the weekend.
