ATHERTON, Calif. -- The Chaminade University women's tennis team on Friday opened their only mainland trip of the season with a match at Menlo College at the Wunderlich Tennis Courts.
The Silverswords dropped the match, 7-0, falling to 0-5 on the year.
The Oaks (6-3) opened the day, taking the required 2-of-3 to win the doubles point. The 'Swords' duo of
Carine Bleasdell (Kihei, Maui, Hawai'i/Hawai'i Technology Academy) and
Danica Palmer (Philadlephia/Upper Merion Area) took a set from Carlotta Stern and Angel Cody before their match was called at 4-1 upon Menlo's clinch.
Isabella Minuado (Honolulu/Hawai'i Technology Academy) had a competitive second set in her No. 4 singles match against Bianca Tatu, in a 6-3 decision.
In Singles 3,
Selena Buttery (Brockway, Pa./Brockway) also took a game in the second set while
Hannah Lewis (Burbank, Calif./John Burroughs) did the same at the top singles spot.
The Silverswords continue their Bay Area trip Sunday at Jessup University at the Johnson Ranch Sports Club North in Roseville.
