IRVINE, Calif. – The Chaminade University women's volleyball team continued their four-match Southern California sojourn on Saturday at Concordia University Irvine.
 
The Silverswords had early momentum but couldn't sustain it in their 26-24, 26-24, 25-16 defeat at CU Arena.
 
Reina Krueger (Fort Collins, Colo./Liberty Commons) led the 'Swords with nine kills, committing no errors for a hitting percentage of .474. She also added four total blocks.
 
Tabby Allen (Leander, Texas/Rouse) and Lillie Hinton (Spicewood, Texas/Lake Travis) contributed with eight kills each while Lilinoe Paschoal (Paukukalo, Maui, Hawai'i/Baldwin) dished out 20 assists and eight digs while setting a career high with five service aces.
 
Sina Bauer (Bamberg, Bavaria, Germany/Maximillian-von-Montgelas Gymnasium Vilsbiburg) led Chaminade with 10 digs.
 
The 'Swords fell to 7-7 overall and 1-3 in the Pacific West Conference with their losing streak reaching three, the team's longest since 2019.
 
Kayden Croy and Livia Eyre led the Golden Eagles (10-2, 4-0 PacWest) with 12 kills each.
 
Everything seemed to go right for CUH in the first set, opening as many as a 21-14 lead. But CUI crept back, closing to within 23-21. Krueger's kill set up set point but the 'Swords couldn't put the Golden Eagles away despite three set points as the home team ran off the final five points to steal the set.
 
The roles were reversed in the next set with Concordia taking a 24-22 edge. A Hinton kill followed by an ace by Cheyenne Canche (San Antonio, Texas/Harlan) tied it at 24 but CUI got the final two points to take a two-set lead.
 
Concordia's 11-2 run in the third set sealed the match to send Chaminade to a 0-2 start on their current mainland trip.
 
The 'Swords hit .148 with 32 kills, 28 assists, 40 digs, eight aces and five total team blocks. The Golden Eagles had 51 kills while hitting .299, 47 assists, 57 digs, four aces and seven team blocks.
 
The Silverswords will look to snap their streak Monday at Vanguard University.
