COSTA MESA, Calif. – The Chaminade University women's volleyball team got their first win of their four-match Southern California road trip with a 25-23, 25-13, 27-25 sweep of Vanguard University at the Freed Center.
 
Siria Guerini (Martinengo, Italy/Universita Telematica Pegaso/Liceo don Lorenzo Milani HS) put down 13 kills and hit .458 – both season highs – to help the Silverswords avoid their first four-match losing streak since 2019.
 
Lillie Hinton (Spicewood, Texas/Lake Travis) added 11 kills with Allison Panter (Denver, Colo./Portland State University/Denver School of Science and Technology HS) tacking on eight more along with three blocks to help the 'Swords improve to 8-7 overall and 2-3 in the Pacific West Conference. Reina Krueger (Fort Collins, Colo./Liberty Commons) contributed with seven kills and a pair of blocks.
 
Lilinoe Paschoal (Paukukalo, Maui, Hawai'i/Baldwin) had 26 assists and three service aces with Shannon Sheehy (Phoenix, Ariz./University of San Francisco/Sandra Day O'Connor HS) dishing out nine more helpers. Kyra Pagud (Honolulu/Moanalua) had a match-high 14 digs.
 
Haley Langdon led the Lions (5-7, 3-2 PacWest) with nine kills.
 
After holding off VU to capture the first set, CUH rolled in the second, putting down 17 kills with just two attack errors for a blistering .600 percentage.
 
In the third set, the 'Swords rallied from a 13-7 deficit, using a 10-3 run to take a 17-16 edge. Down 24-22, Chaminade staved off two set points with a Paschoal dump attack followed by Guerini's 12th kill to tie the set at 24. Panter's final kill of the evening to set up aloha ball then the 'Swords forced Vanguard to hit long to secure the sweep.
 
Chaminade hit .340 with 51 kills on 47 assists, 47 digs, 10 aces and three total team blocks. The Lions hit .179 with 30 kills, 27 assists, 32 digs, six aces and six blocks.
 
The Silverswords conclude the road trip Tuesday at conference unbeaten Biola University.
