LA MIRADA, Calif. – Last year, the result of the Chaminade University and Biola University women's soccer teams at Saint Louis Field ended in a 1-1 draw.
 
It proved to be a microcosm for both teams for the 2025 season with Biola tying the NCAA Division II record for most ties with nine while Chaminade's eight was just one behind.
 
On Saturday, the two teams who had the penchant for ties had a winner with the Eagles getting a 1-0 win at Al Barbour Field.
 
The Silverswords took a season-high 15 shots on the day with five players getting two shots each.
 
Sofia Desirello (Menifee, Calif./University of North Dakota/Paloma HS), Shannon Healy (Gilbert, Ariz./Campo Verde), Olivia Leonard (Taylorsville, Utah/Utah Tech University/Skyline HS), Emmerson Peller (Broomfield, Colo./University of North Dakota/Broomfield HS) and Kierra Reid (St. George, Utah/Dixie) all had multiple looks at the net.
 
Sydney Bakritzes (Edina, Minn./University of North Dakota/Edina HS) made six saves for the 'Swords (0-8-1, 0-2 Pacific West Conference).
 
Gissel Fang had the game's only score with a short tap-in in the 32nd minute.
 
Chaminade had a chance for the tying goal as Peller intercepted an errant Eagles pass with a breakaway opportunity but her shot was deflected away by Laura Brennan, Biola's second keeper of the day.
 
The 'Swords actually took two more shots than the Eagles' 13 while Biola had seven shots on-goal to Chaminade's four. CUH did have the corner kick advantage at 9-to-6.
 
The SoCal road trip continues Tuesday at Concordia University Irvine at Golden Eagles Field, starting at 12:30 p.m. Hawai'i time.
