Ricardo Martinez Rodriguez is in his first year as an assistant coach for the Chaminade University men's soccer team.
Rodriguez has nearly 20 years of soccer experience, playing in his home country of Spain in clubs including Atlético de Madrid, which he helped lead to two league titles in the small division category. He also played for Getafe FC and Carabanchel, among others.
Following his playing career, Rodriguez followed his passion of sports and education, graduating from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Polytechnic University of Madrid) with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Sports Sciences. He also has a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Complutense University of Madrid).
He began his using his new career path by gaining work experience in various tracts including coaching, personal training,fitness and teaching physical education in elementary and high school.
Rodriguez arrived to O'ahu from Spain in 2014 and continued to work in sports and education before coming on board as a Chaminade assistant, bringing his unique credentials to help benefit the team.
