Diamond Carter joined the Chaminade University women's basketball team in the spring of 2022 as an assistant coach.
Her second full season as an assistant saw the Silverswords post four wins, the most by the program since 2019-20 while the team's scoring average increased to 61.6, the fourth-highest in single-season team history. The year was highlighted by a 77-66 win over Hawai'i Pacific on Jan. 18, their first victory over their in-city rival in nearly 16 years and snapping a 40-game skid in the series.
In Carter's first full year during the 2022-23 campaign, the Silverswords set a single-season team record with 1,013 total rebounds, marking the first time in program history the team surpassed the millennium mark in boards while the team's 39.0 per game average was the second-highest ever. They also held opponents to a shooting percentage of 40.0, the second-lowest ever. Junior guard Olivia Crigler set a program record with 57 3-pointers, which broke Samantha Saito's record of 50 which stood for 14 years. Fellow guard Dallas Martinez also made history, registering the program's first-ever triple-double with 23 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists against Champion Christian on Jan. 2, 2023.
Carter spent two seasons wearing a Silversword uniform from 2017-19 with a career scoring average of 11.5 points per game and ranks tied for 10th in the program's all-time 3-point shooting list with 50. She established her career high with 29 points against California Baptist on Dec. 2, 2017, tying the team record with seven 3-pointers. Carter was honored as the Most Inspirational Player her senior year after suffering a knee injury midway through the season but returned to play the final seven games.
Prior to Chaminade, Carter spent two seasons at Olympic College in Bremerton, Wash., where she was a two-time Northwest Athletic Conference All-Academic selection and was a NWAC North Region Second Team honoree as a freshman. She also was on the track and field team where she competed in the shot put, hammer and discus.
Carter is an 2012 alumnae of Kapolei High School in Kapolei, O'ahu, where she played basketball, volleyball and track and field. As a sophomore, she helped the Hurricanes reach the Hawai'i High School Athletic Association Division I Championships.
