The 2021-22 season is the second for Wilette Lum as an assistant for the Chaminade University women's basketball team.
Lum has a long history of being associated in sports, primarily in volleyball. She was the head coach at Kaiser High School in Honolulu, where she was the 1998 O'ahu Interscholastic Association Co-Head Coach of the Year. She also had head coaching stints at Radford High School and the Aiea High varsity boys team.
Most recently, Lum was volunteer coach with Kamali'i Maunaloa volleyball and also volunteered for the Pearl City Umpire Association District 7 and was a Pearl City Little League board member from 2012 to 14.
After being named All-OIA at Pearl City High School, along with being the Chargers' Female Athlete of the Year and graduating with honors, the former Wilette Andrade played volleyball at Chaminade under five different head coaches from 1987 through 1991 as an outside hitter, setter and defensive specialist. During her redshirt junior year in 1989, she helped guide the Silverswords to a 12-7 record in their first season as an NCAA Division II Independent. It was also the program's last winning season for the next seven years. Lum ended her career ranked in the top five in both digs (431) and assists (542).
Lum has four children; Shacey Andrade-Teves, Dylan, Serena and Tyra, and is married to the late Kui Lum. She currently works in the Chaminade Admissions Office as the Operations Specialist and is still involved in volleyball, coaching the Quicksets Volleyball Club since 2014.
