    Assistant Coach
Stiven Buritica is in his sixth year as assistant coach to the Chaminade University women's soccer team and is responsible for the field players. During the spring 2021 season, the Silverswords saw their greatest success by capturing the Pacific West Conference Hawai'i Pod title, the first-ever by the program.

Despite the hardships created by the COVID-19 pandemic which forced the playing year to be moved from the traditional fall season to the spring of 2021, the 'Swords were able to capture the Hawai'i Pod title, the program's first. Forward Randi Fontes made history by becoming the first Chaminade soccer player -- men's and women's -- to be named the PacWest Player of the Year after leading the conference in goals (5) and goals per game (1.25). In addition to Fontes' honor, transfer Hoku Schatz was named the PacWest Newcomer of the Year, giving Chaminade three of the conference's five major postseason awards.

The successes of the spring carried over into the fall 2021 season where the 'Swords finished 7-7 overall and 5-5 in the PacWest, breaking program records for victories in both categories. It also marked the first time ever the program finished a full non-COVID year at .500.

In 2019, he helped Fontes earn her second straight All-Pacific West Conference Third Team honor. The team itself had 31 points and averaged 2.21 points per game, both second all-time in a single season, while the 11 goals are the third highest.

In his first year as an assistant in 2017, he helped the Silverswords to posting record-breaking offensive numbers, setting new marks in points (52), goals (19) and assists (14). That year also saw junior forward Caitlin Tatemichi earn All-Pacific West Conference Second Team honors.

Buritica played three seasons as a midfielder for the 'Swords men's soccer team from 2013 to '15, seeing a career-high 513 minutes played in his senior season. As a member of the 2014 squad, the 'Swords went 6-10, setting a program-record in wins. That team ended the season on a three-match winning streak with all three victories against island rivals Hawai'i Pacific, Hawai'i Hilo and BYU-Hawai'i. It marked the first time in school history of sweeping all three of their interisland foes in the same season.

A two-time Academic All-PacWest honoree who received his bachelor's degree in Psychology in 2016, Buritica is originally from Colombia and lives in Honolulu. He is currently pursuing his Master's degree in Mental Health Counceling at CUH.
