2019 (Sophomore): Started 24 of 25 matches, playing 86 sets … totaled 249 kills, 209 digs, 24 service aces and 45 total blocks (42 BA, 3 BS) … led the Penguins in kills (2.90 kps), the most by a YSU player since 2014 … finished second on team in aces per set (0.28) and fourth in aces (0.28) and blocks per set (0.52) … hit .182 on the year … career-high of 21 kills vs. Kent State (Sept. 10) … season-highs include digs of 22 vs. Niagara (Sept. 6), five total blocks at Cleveland State (Oct. 18) and three aces vs. Green Bay (Nov. 8) … was the Most Valuable Player of the Penguin Classic … recorded 12 matches of double-digit kills … seven double-doubles … named to the Dean’s List (fall semester) … recipient of the Penguin Club Athletic Scholarship.
2018 (Freshman): Started 17 of 28 matches in 93 sets played … fourth on team in kills (138) and third in total blocks (41) … also totaled 89 digs, 11 assists and six aces … averaged 1.48 kills, 0.44 blocks and 0.96 digs per set … posted season-high nine kills three times … career-high 12 digs at Cleveland State (Sept. 21) … named to the Dean’s List both semesters.
Prep: A 2018 graduate of Bountiful High School in Bountiful, Utah … helped guide the Braves to four straight region titles, two state championships (2015-16) and a state runner-up finish (2017) … named first team all-state by the Salt Lake Tribune and the Deseret News as a senior after leading Utah Class 5A in kills at 3.4 kills per set … named to the Tribune’s All-Tribune team … also hit .304 on the year … earned Female Athlete honors at the state level … earned Standard Star by the Standard Examiner … made the high honor roll and citizenship roll … played for Wave Volleyball Club.
Personal: Parents are Ata and Angie Kahuhu … has a twin sister, Kaybrie, who was her teammate at Youngstown State and now at Chaminade … is the older of the twins … has three other younger sisters, Marley, Atiana and Anaiah Kahuhu … majoring in Biology … would like to attend graduate school to study sports medicine and become an athletic trainer … played basketball and soccer and tried softball … played basketball in high school before discovering volleyball as being her favorite … also played piano and violin … likes reading and writing … considering journalism as a backup career choice … likes traveling and shopping for shoes, would like to go to Japan for both … favorite food is watermelon and regularly has it for all three meals during the summer.
