Honolulu, HI- College football legend, Lou Holtz, once said, “Don't be a spectator, don't let life pass you.” Chaminade wasted no time tonight sweeping the Penguins of Dominican University in three straight sets. (25-18, 25-8, 25-16).
It was a match from the start that seemed to be over before it started. From the very first serve of the night, the Swords played with a sense of command not seen all season long. This Pac West conference matchup was the first sweep of the season for the Silverswords of Chaminade University.
Freshmen Kylee Pedro (Kailua, HI/ Mid-Pacific) and Whitney Viveiros (Hilo, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) continue their impressive freshman campaign with a combined total of 28 kills and 23 digs tonight against Dominican University. Junior setter Tanya Alvino (Brentwood, CA/Liberty) had 32 assists to go along with 6 digs for CUH.
The Swords won the dig battle 63- 47. Chaminade also led in kills 44 -22. The Silverswords also led the way with total team assists; they had 38 to the Penguins 19.
Dominican was led by Gabby Pecora with 8 kills and 6 digs.
With the win, Chaminade improves to 4-16 overall, while Dominican falls to 4 -17 overall on the year. The Swords are back in action this coming Friday, Oct. 16th, when they battle the Antelopes of Grand Canyon. First serve is set for 7:00 PM HT in McCabe Gym.
