San Francisco, CA- Chaminade took on Academy of Art and fell in four games (17-25, 15-25, 25-22, 24-26).
Chaminade lost both set one and two, but battled back to take set three to set up an offensive showdown in set four. The set went into extra points with both teams hitting above .330 in the set. Chaminade hit .333 for the set while the Urban Knights hit .356 in a 26-24 set four victory.
Freshman Whitney Viveiros (Hilo, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) led Chaminade with 14 kills and 16 digs. Viveiros did this with a hitting percentage of .407. Sophomore Malilimago Toailoa (Waikaloa, HI/Kealakehe) added 7 kills on a .312 hitting percentage.
Senior Chauntelle Maduli (Honolulu, HI/Kamehameha-Kapalama) had a double-double for Chaminade with 15 kills and 10 digs. Junior setter Tanya Alvino (Brentwood, CA/Liberty) had 45 assists and 17 digs for CUH.
CUH out-dug the Academy of Art by a wide margin 77-62. AAU won the block battle 10-5.
The Urban Knights were led by Dan Yang with 19 kills.
With the loss, Chaminade falls to 2-14. Academy of Art moves to 14-5. The Swords are back in action Monday (Oct. 5th) against NDNU. First serve is set for 7:00 PM PT in Belmont, CA.
