CUH MBB: Swords Stumble against Hot Shooting Vulcans 98-82

Tangara has 22 points and 16 rebounds for Chaminade

Honolulu, HI- The Swords, coming off two battles with BYU-Hawaii, ran into a tough UH-Hilo team tonight in McCabe Gym.

The Swords managed to score the ball, but stopping the Vulcans was another story.  Five Vulcans scored in double figures on the 98-82 victory.

Chaminade was led by Mohamed Tangara with 22 points and 16 rebounds.  Juniors Cartier Carter and Rickey Clayborn added 16 and 10 points respectively.

The boards were even at 38 for each team.  Offense was not the problem as Chaminade shot 49% from the floor.  The Swords allowed the Vulcans to shoot 50% from the field and 48% from three.

John Smith led UH-Hilo with 25 points.

Chaminade falls to 14-12 on the year, and falls to 7-5 in the Pac West conference.  Hawaii Hilo moves to 14-11. The Swords are back in action vs. Hawaii Hilo Friday evening, March 6th. Game time is set for 7:30 PM HT at McCabe Gym.
